Green energy innovations for the future

Our ultimate goal at Karpowership is to achieve net zero in power generation. With this commitment, we are dedicated to developing green technologies, investing in cutting-edge R&D, and building partnerships that accelerate our journey toward a more sustainable future. Here are some of the green energy solutions in which we invest as part of our long-term vision.

Renewables

We are committed to significantly growing our renewables portfolio, reinforcing our dedication to global decarbonization efforts. Currently, we operate geothermal and solar power plants across Ukraine, Türkiye, and Brazil. Over the next decade, we aim to expand our renewable portfolio more than tenfold, while entering new markets across Europe and the United States.

Alternative fuels

To pave the way for a cleaner energy landscape, we are exploring alternative fuel sources like renewable natural gas (RNG), hydrogen, and ammonia. Each of these fuels offers unique benefits for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency across various sectors. Our research and trials aim to determine how these alternatives can enhance the environmental profile of our operations while supporting diverse applications, from industrial processes to transportation.

Carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS)

In our pursuit of a low-carbon future, we invest in advanced carbon capture, usage, and storage (CCUS) technologies that target emissions reductions in power generation across our Powership, Intelliship, and Watership platforms. CCUS technology works by capturing CO₂ emissions directly from our ships’ exhaust streams.

Captured carbon is then either stored in geological formations or repurposed for various industrial applications, such as enhancing soil health or creating building materials, turning CO₂ from a waste product into a valuable resource. By integrating CCUS into our floating energy solutions, we help minimize environmental impact and contribute to global carbon reduction efforts. This technology represents a vital step toward achieving net zero, enabling our operations to sustain energy security while addressing climate challenges.

Waste to power

Our waste-to-power initiatives aim to repurpose waste materials into clean, renewable energy.

This technology addresses two significant sustainability challenges: reducing landfill dependency and generating renewable power. By converting organic and industrial waste into energy, we aim to provide an eco-friendly power source that lessens environmental harm and supports a circular economy.

Our investments in waste-to-power underscore our commitment to sustainable development, helping communities manage waste and meet energy needs simultaneously.
